The Bihar government has announced changes to the security cover provided to members of the family of veteran politician Lalu Prasad. The decision was taken after a review by the state Home Department and has led to revised protection arrangements for several family members.
Under the new security framework, the Z+ category security previously provided to Lalu Prasad and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has been withdrawn. Both leaders will continue to receive security protection from Bihar Police, though under a modified arrangement.
A significant change has also been made to the security cover of Tej Pratap Yadav. His earlier security category has reportedly been discontinued, and he will now be provided with a reduced level of personal protection.
Meanwhile, no changes have been made to the security arrangements of Tejashwi Yadav, who will continue to receive Y+ category protection. Security cover for Rajshree Yadav and Misa Bharti has also been retained without alteration.
According to official information, revised deployment plans include house guards, bodyguards, escort teams, pilot vehicles, and other security resources based on the threat assessment and public responsibilities of the individuals concerned.
The state administration stated that the decision was made following a routine review process. Political reactions to the move are expected as discussions continue over security allocations for prominent public figures in Bihar.
