Gill Wants More Despite 402, Says India Could Have Reached 450

New Delhi. India sealed a convincing 170-run victory over Afghanistan in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, but captain Shubman Gill was not entirely satisfied with the batting effort.

Speaking after the match, Gill said the team should have continued attacking and aimed for a total closer to 430 or even 450 runs.

"I think we should have kept playing our shots. We need to keep scores like 430, 440 and 450 in mind," Gill said.

The Indian skipper felt his side was in a strong position to post one of its highest ODI totals but failed to capitalize fully in the closing stages.

Powered by centuries from Gill and Ishan Kishan, India posted 402 runs. Afghanistan, in reply, were bowled out for 232, handing India a comprehensive 170-run victory.

The result also gave India an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
