A Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s southern port city of Odesa overnight on Monday April 6, 2026 killed three people, including a child, and injured at least 10 others, according to regional authorities.
Oleh Kiper, the Regional Governor, said the city came under a “heavy attack,” with multiple strikes hitting residential buildings, administrative offices, and critical infrastructure.
“Overnight, Odesa came under another heavy attack by the enemy,” Kiper said in a statement shared on Telegram. He added that the strikes caused significant damage across several parts of the city.
Emergency services responded to the affected areas as rescue and relief operations continued. Authorities confirmed that several buildings were severely damaged, raising concerns about further casualties.
The latest assault comes as the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its fifth year, with Moscow intensifying attacks on strategic locations.
Odesa remains a crucial logistics hub and Ukraine’s largest port on the Black Sea, handling the majority of the country’s grain exports and maritime trade. Increased strikes on the city highlight its strategic importance and the growing pressure on Ukraine’s economic lifelines.
