A passenger aircraft operated by Mahan Air was reportedly damaged in a U.S. airstrike at Mashhad airport in Iran on March 30, 2026, according to Iranian officials.
The aircraft had been scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on April 1 to collect humanitarian aid, including essential medical supplies,
intended for people in Iran. Officials said the damage could disrupt the planned mission.
Iranian authorities stated that the plane was hit during the U.S. strike targeting Mashhad airport. However, U.S. officials have not confirmed or responded to these claims so far.
Earlier this month, India had sent a consignment of medical supplies to Iran via the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi had expressed gratitude to the people of India for the assistance.
Mahan Air, a privately owned airline, operates flights across West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia.
